Syvia Is Born! (Part 1)

Ok, I'm going to try and capture Sylvia's birth story as best as I can remember it and I want to do it before it becomes a distant memory.

I had been having contractions for 5 days leading up to Sylvie's birthday. With each day, I thought: "This is it!" Fake-outs. All of them. The Monday of that week, when I was 38 weeks, I worked from home because my contractions were getting worse. Not regular, but more intense. However, I had a Dr. appointment that day and the verdict: NO PROGRESS. I was 1 cm, which was the same as I had been the week before. Sigh. Because of that, I did go to work the next day (Tuesday). Tuesday night, I was having the same irregular contractions, but they were getting worse again. I went to sleep and woke up 2 or 3 times because of the pain, but still nothing regular.

Wednesday morning, I got up, showered, and started getting ready for work. I did my makeup, got my clothes out, but was still having those irregular painful contractions. I was debating going into work or staying home and consulted with my mom. She recommended going in to get checked and then seeing from there. So, I decided to not go to work. Since I hadn't been keeping track of my contractions, I decided to time them for awhile. They were more regular, about every 6 minutes, but I still didn't think they were painful enough to call yet. I took a little nap. One BIG clue that something was happening was that I had NO appetite. None. I had toast and raspberries, but I didn't even really want those things that morning. About noon, I was doing some work from home and the contractions seemed to get more spaced out, but they were more intense. There were little bursts of pain that lasted 30-45 seconds and the contractions lasted about a minute and a half. Me=Horrible Blogger. I will finish this soon, promise :)

Contractions

I've been having contractions for almost a week now. And as of Monday, they weren't doing anything. BUT, I have had some bloody mucus (gross, sorry, but true), which is a sign of progress. And my contractions are more hurty than they have been.

My prediction was wrong, since I'm now 38 weeks and 4 days. Come on, baby! I want to meet you (and be all done being pregnant!)!
